Safety Guidelines

Safety First! Welcome to the world of Time Trade

Time Trade is based on trust as a means for building and connecting communities. That said, there are people that would seek to take advantage of our philosophy of Trust first, so we’ve added some safety features and provided some common sense guidelines to help safeguard our Time Trade experience.

Feedback

Our feedback system captures a growing list of references from the people, business and groups that individual members work with.

This feedback provides an indication of the type of experience you can expect to have when interacting with each member.

A full list of member history and feedback will soon be available via member profiles to allow you to make make safe, responsible choices about your connections.

Vouching (Coming Soon)

We intend to implement a Vouching System  to allows community group administrators to vouch for members whom they have met face to face and feel are trustworthy people. Respecting the significance of vouching is essential to the integrity of the network.

Safety Guidelines

Listed below are some guidelines for safe Time Trade. Combined with your common sense, they will help keep you safe.

No Obligation. It’’s your time and your talents, what you do with them is completely up to you. You are under absolutely no obligation to trade either.

Seek information. Members talent profiles are showcased to give you additional information about the person you are considering working with. Use the profiles to learn more about members.

Review the member’s feedback. Click their feedback rating to see the history of feedback on trades that they’ve been involved with.

We are integrating safeguards – Feedback & Vouching (Coming Soon). Use them, to help you make informed decisions.

Use Your Common Sense. Time Trade is about trust & common sense. If you don’t feel comfortable with something, don’t do it! Because that’s you’re intuition, warning you.

Trust yourself first. You never have to deal with people that you’re not comfortable with, nor do you have to work somewhere that you feel uncomfortable.

Ask questions. Problems misunderstandings and difficulties often occur as a result of either poor communication or differing expectations. Questions will help all involved clarify expectations from both sides. Vague answers or lots of unanswered questions are a danger sign.

Be very careful of people who ask to bypass the online process. The system is in place to help gather feedback and build credibility and trust for our members. Why would someone want to avoid this?

Get a phone number. If your offer is accepted ask for a phone number and talk directly with the person requesting your time as this can help establish the working relationship

Retain your correspondence. It was once called a paper trail but nowdays it can’t be destroyed by fire. All correspondence will prove valuable, should third parties need become involved.

Contact Us. If you have any concern please contact us, anytime. Sometimes a third party provides the perspective necessary to prevent and/or resolve conflict.

Version 1.0: November 2009 – Please note that this is a living document which we seek to continually improve and refine based on shared community intelligence. We welcome your feedback on this very important issue. Please email me renee.lee@worknow.co.nz
